If there’s one thing Black Mirror has always done well, it’s making us question the very technology we depend on, and the unsettling trailer for season 7 shows we’re in for a (disturbing) treat very soon.

After a long wait, the twisted anthology series is back with a seventh season, set to premiere on Netflix on April 10 – and this time, creator Charlie Brooker is digging even deeper into the dark corners of our digital age.

Season 7 is already shaping up to be a game-changer. For the first time in the show’s history, two of its upcoming episodes will be sequels, one revisiting the Star Trek-inspired nightmare of U.S.S. Callister and another expanding the mind-bending world of Bandersnatch.

While it may seem bold, fans have long been asking the show to revisit those stories and answer the lingering questions that came out of those episodes.

But, that’s not the only reason why you should watch Black Mirror season 7.

Black Mirror season 7 trailer

The trailer alone is a wild ride, and really does cement Black Mirror as the Twilight Zone of its day. It starts with a woman waking in a state of panic, then we’re told “the mind is a computer”, there’s a shot of someone taking what looks like a tab of LSD, before someone else says: “We’ll all be cyborgs before long.” Expect weird, dark twists and turns and more technological nightmare-weaving than you can shake a stick at.

One of the top comments on YouTube beneath the trailer is: “I am once again ready to be disturbed at how close this is to reality.” Same.

Black Mirror season 7 cast

With a star-studded cast, including Peter Capaldi, Chris O’Dowd, Emma Corrin, Rashida Jones, Paul Giamatti, Issa Rae, Awkwafina, and Cristin Milioti, it is clear that the show will be one to watch.

Other than telling us about the sequels, Netflix has remained tight-lipped about the specific plots of the new episodes.

However, they have hinted at themes that will challenge our notions of privacy, artificial intelligence, and social media’s ever-tightening grip on our lives – which is especially poignant in this day-and-age.

And in true Black Mirror fashion, expect plenty of twists—because if we’ve learned anything, it’s that things are never what they seem.

Black Mirror season 7 release date

All six episodes will drop on Netflix at once on 10 April, meaning fans will be able to binge-watch their way through another series of existential crises in one sitting.

So, prepare yourself—because Black Mirror is about to remind us, yet again, that the scariest thing in the world isn’t a monster under the bed. It’s the technology in our hands.
