JoJo Siwa is “switching letters” after realising during her time on Celebrity Big Brother that she’s “queer” rather than a “lesbian”.

The former Dance Moms star gave an update on her sexuality on the show on Tuesday night (22 April). It came after a triple eviction, with the housemates saying goodbye to Patsy Palmer, Angellica Bell and Ella Rae Wise.

After coming out in 2021, Siwa identified as pansexual but more recently has spoken about herself as either gay or queer. She is currently in a relationship with non-binary actor Kath Ebbs.

But speaking to RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winner Danny Beard after the elimination, JoJo have a more definitive update “I feel so queer,” she said. “I’ve always told myself, I’m a lesbian [but ] being here I’ve realised I’m not a lesbian, I’m queer,” the Daily Mail quoted her as saying.

“I think that’s really cool, I’m switching letters. I’ve dropped the L and I’ve gone to the Q, baby! That’s what I love about sexuality.”

JoJo Siwa has just announced that she no longer identifies as a lesbian. During her stay on Celebrity Big Brother UK, JoJo confides in drag queen housemate Danny Beard about her sexuality. The Dance Moms star was seen on the show’s livestream saying, “I feel so queer”. The Karma singer, who has been dating influencer Kath Ebbs confessed that she does not feel like a lesbian. ‘I’ve never – I think I’ve always told myself, I’m a lesbian. I think you – I think being here – I’ve realised I am not a lesbian, I’m queer.’ Continuing to expand on her identity, JoJo stated: ‘And I think that’s really cool, I’m switching letters! I’ve dropped the L and I’ve gone to the Q baby! That’s what I love about sexuality.’ The 21-year-old came out as pansexual in 2021 but has described herself as gay in recent interviews. JoJo has also been very candid about her gender identity during her time in the house, confessing that she may identify as non-binary. #jojosiwa #lesbiansoftiktok #bigbrother #celebritybigbrother #queertiktok #lgbtqia

Never one to let things get too serious for too long, Beard, who identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns out of drag, joked: “And you know what British people love more than anything? To queue!”

During her time on the show, Siwa has had to deal with homophobic and offensive remarks from fellow contestant Mickey Rourke. The Iron Man 2 star was booted out the house for making the comments.

More recently, she has been seen getting close to Love Island star Chris Hughes, which has sparked speculation of a romance and has led Ebbs to being trolled that she was being cheated on.

Siwa has also discussed gender identity. After being called into the diary room with Hughes to discuss a possible rule violation of discussing nominations (they were seen writing on each other’s hands), she indicated that she could be questioning her own gender identity.

“Essentially you have female, you have male. I’ve met a lot of females, love them, don’t feel like I’m them. Met a lot of males, love them, don’t feel like I’m them. Definitely not them,” she said.

“Met a lot of people in my life [who] are non-binary, and these beautiful people are who I feel the most like and it’s not something that I want to say about myself yet but it’s something that is confusing. That’s why we were talking about it last night.”

Celebrity Big Brother, hosted by Will Best and AJ Odudu, airs weekdays at 9pm on ITV1 in the UK, with the final on Friday (25 April), and is available to stream on ITVX.
