Actor Jennifer Coolidge has said she felt lost before finding the queer community.
The White Lotus star recently attended the opening of queer hotel The Tryst Puerto Vallarta, in Mexico. Speaking to Pride, she described the love between her and the LGBTQ+ community as “very, very mutual”.
She went on to say: “I feel I joined the LGBTQ+ community… I was kind of lost as a young kid. I felt like we all found out later… most of my buddies are gay men, gay women too.
“We all felt we were the same tribe. I could go on forever about how much it’s improved my life. If it hadn’t happened and if I hadn’t met everyone from the gay community [whom] I know, my life would be nothing, nothing without it.”
Long-time LGBTQ+ ally Coolidge went on tell People: “I think heterosexual people are more self-conscious. Gay men and gay women just let loose and have a blast. They know how to have a really good time, and they’re really original. They’re a superior group of people.”
Jennifer Coolidge goes viral on TikTok after jokingly claiming to be a lesbian
Two days ago, a clip of Jennifer Coolidge at an event, possibly the opening of The Tryst, went viral on TikTok.
In the eight-second long video, TikTok user @tessk142 appears with Coolidge and says: “I’m a lesbian.” Coolidge replies, “I am too!” and Tess responds: “Shall we kiss?” before changing her mind and saying “just kidding.”

The clip has had almost 10 million views so far, and caused “Jennifer Coolidge lesbian” to briefly trend on social media, but there’s no suggestion it was anything other than a joke (despite hundreds of thirsty and hopeful comments from her female fans under the video).
At the 2023 GLAAD Awards, Coolidge, currently being seen in A Minecraft Movie, said it was “the story of my life” being “surrounded by gays”, adding: “I have so much respect for the LGBTQ+ community, and want you all to know that I love you and I thank you for always being there for me. That’s why I’m here, because I want to give back.”
