A first look at the premiere of All Stars 10 has revealed six of the cast’s eighteen queens gagged by RuPaul explaining the spinoff’s tournament format – and new points twist.
Well, it’s finally here – almost.
The first 12 minutes of All Stars 10 have hit the internet, giving fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race their first glimpse at the tenth iteration of the spinoff – but this isn’t your mother’s All Stars.
All Stars 10, also known as the ‘Tournament of All Stars‘, was announced with the gagworthy format twist that its cast (the largest in Drag Race herstory) would be split into three groups from the off.
As Ru explains to team orange in the premiere sneak peek – which consists of season 3’s Phoenix, season 9 and All Stars 3‘s Aja, season 13’s Olivia Lux, season 14’s Bosco and Deja Skye and season 15’s porkchop Irene the Alien – the season will pan out unlike any before it.
How does All Stars 10 work?
“In the preliminary round, no-one will be eliminated. Instead, you will be competing for points, and at the end of the three episode bracket, the three All Stars with the most points from this bracket will advance to the semi-finals, where you will face off against the top three All Stars from the other brackets,” Ru explains to the assembled glamazons.
Ru also confirms that the season’s finale will be a good old fashioned lip-sync smackdown for the crown – but wait, there’s more, as the queen of drag then tells the divas how the point system works this season.
“Each week, the top two queens will received two points each. Those two queens will lip-sync for the win, and the winner of the lip-sync will receive an extra point, plus a cash tip of $10,000.
“An additional four points will be awarded each episode – more on that later.” Gagged.
The All Stars 10 premiere challenge is also revealed to be a rock and roll girl group challenge. Also, RuPaul is wearing a moustache for some reason.
With team orange the first to enter the ring, team purple consists of Acid Betty, Alyssa Hunter, Cynthia Lee Fontaine, Daya Betty, Denali and Ginger Minj, while the pink sisters are Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Lydia B Kollins, Nicole Paige Brooks, Jorgeous, Tina Burner and Kerri Colby.
As a wise woman once said, “We can’t wait to see how this turns out.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 10 will be available to stream on Paramount+ in the US and WOW Presents Plus internationally from 9 May.
