Lea Michele performed Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” as part of a segment on her tour imagining what songs Rachel Berry would sing in 2025. And it’s safe to say, the internet has thoughts.

The Funny Girl performer has embarked on her Straight from Carnegie Hall Tour, which combines her solo material with Broadway tracks, Glee favourites and surprise songs. Another segment of her tour portrays the songs her character might sing in the Ryan Murphy-created comedy drama.

On Thursday (8 May), the singer covered a series of tracks as part of the segment during her Orlando, Florida, stop of the tour. The tracks included Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers”, Ariana Grande’s “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)”, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire” and “Driving License”, and Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?”

But it was her performance of Roan’s trademark track that got Glee fans debating in the comments.

In true Rachel Berry fashion, the star hit all of the high notes and added some vocal slides for artistic flair, but onlookers couldn’t help but express that the track might be better suited to another of Michele’s former co-stars: Chris Colfer, who played Kurt Hummel in the series.

“That would 100% be a Kurt song!!!,” one fan of the show commented. “Sorry this is for Kurt,” another noted of the track.

“I want Chris Colfer to sing it in the OG key cuz I know he can,” wrote a third. “I can only hear Kurt singing this,” said a fourth.

Meanwhile, others suggested that the duo would have performed the track as a duet, in a similar style to the series’ cover of “Defying Gravity” from Wicked.

“Rachel and Kurt would have ate down on this in Glee,” said one, while another echoed, “We need Kurt and Rachel to do a sing-off to this like the Wicked one.”
