The UK’s Eurovision entrant Remember Monday has released a statement after crashing out of the contest in a disappointing 19th place.
At Saturday’s grand final (17 May), the country-tinged pop girl group, made up of Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele, managed to secure an impressive 88 points in the jury vote with their song “What The Hell Just Happened?”, putting them in tenth place.
Yet when the public vote rolled in, the group were dealt a shocking blow, scoring the dreaded nul points.
The tale of two votes meant that while the group avoided being in last place – that honour was bestowed on San Marino’s Gabry Ponte – they did flounder into 19th place, one below where last year’s Olly Alexander managed.
In the moment, the girls handled the defeat with grace, pulling faces and making silly hand gestures. Twenty-four hours on though, and they’ve addressed the loss and their time at Eurovision in full.

“WOW – what a ride! Three best mates walked onto the world’s biggest music stage and came out with a Top 10 Jury score, massive streaming numbers, and memories that will last a lifetime,” they wrote.
“Performing at Eurovision was one of the most surreal and emotional moments of our lives. The love we’ve felt from fans, our incredible team, and everyone who streamed, voted, and believed in us has been overwhelming.
“This is just the beginning for Remember Monday,” they added, revealing that they have new music on the way, plus a huge UK and Ireland tour and festival dates to prepare for.
The band continued: “We’re so grateful for the platform, the media support, and every single new fan who’s joined us on this wild journey. Eurovision? Completed it. Let’s go!”
As for the eventual winner, Austria’s JJ managed to take home the glass trophy thanks to his explosive popera ballad “Wasted Love”.

JJ is now the third queer Eurovision winner in a row, after last year’s historic non-binary champ Nemo for Switzerland and 2023’s returning bisexual chanteuse Loreen for Sweden.
JJ leapt out in front during the jury voting, scoring 258 points compared to Switzerland in second place with 214. Israel’s contested entry Yuval Raphael then swept into first place after bagging 297 points in the public vote, and 357 votes in total.
Yet JJ managed to score an impressive 178 points in the public vote, taking his total to 436, putting him firmly in the winner’s position.
As a result, Eurovision 2026 will take place in JJ’s home country, Austria.
