Eddington star Pedro Pascal urges Americans to ‘fight back’: ‘F**k the people that make you scared’

The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal urged Americans to “fight back” and “f**k the people that make you scared” amid Donald Trump’s tumultuous second term.
Speaking to a Variety Magazine reporter at the Cannes press conference for Ari Aster’s Eddington, Pedro Pascal, who is famously a staunch supporter of trans rights, said: “’F**k the people that make you scared and fight back.”
“This is a perfect way to do so in telling stories, and don’t let them win,” he continued.
Eddington follows the political and social turmoil in the fictional city of Eddington, New Mexico, caused by the Covid pandemic, and Pedro Pascal’s comments were in reply to the reporter asking the cast they were worried about reentering the US after making a film with such a strong political message.
Pedro Pascal also noted: “Fear is the way that they win.”

Donald Trump’s alarming second term has already seen him launch many attacks on LGBTQ+ rights, especially the trans community.
More positively, Trump’s administration has already suffered some notable failures in the last 100 days, including having a ban on gender-affirming care for trans youth under 19, and on trans people serving in the military, blocked.
It isn’t the first time Pedro Pascal has spoken out powerfully in support of equal rights.. In April, he called out gender-critical author JK Rowling for celebrating the UK Supreme Court’s ruling that women refers to ‘biological women’ only for the purposes of the the Equality Act 2010, a decision that excluded transgender women.
In response to a viral video about JK Rowling’s comments, Pascal wrote: “Awful, disgusting s**t is exactly right. Heinous loser behaviour.”
The LGBTQ+ advocate is close to a few people from the community, including his sister, actress Lux Pascal, who is a trans woman, and his The Last of Us co-star Bella Ramsey, who is non-binary. He recently shared cute behind the scenes images with Ramsey after the penultimate episode of The Last of Us. He is also good friends with gay Plainclothes actor Russell Tovey.
Recently, at the UK premiere of Thunderbolts*, Pascal arrived on the red carpet wearing one of Conner Ives’ Protect The Dolls t-shirts, with “dolls” being used as a reference to transgender women. He first wore the t-shirt at his 50th birthday party, where he posed alongside trans DJ Honey Dijon.
