Alexander Skarsgård has teased us that a “raunchier” version of his gay BDSM film Pillion exists.
The film, which stars Skarsgård opposite Harry Melling, best-known as Dudley Dursey in the Harry Potter films, focuses on swaggering, leather-clad biker daddy Ray, who entices meek traffic warden and barbershop-quartet fan Colin into a dom/sub relationship, in which the lines between kink and control become increasingly blurred.
True Blood and Succession star Skarsgård goes full-frontal naked in the new film, leading some material to be cut before its recent premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
This was previously addressed by director Harry Lighton, who told Variety: “It was purely because I didn’t want to push the audience into feeling they were being deliberately shocked by an image.

“So, for example, there was one close up of a d*ck, a hard d*ck… like down the barrel of the lens. And after watching the film, I thought, yeah, cutting it was probably the right decision.”
Also speaking to Variety, Skarsgård said: “There’s definitely a raunchier version of this movie… what you’ve seen is the family-friendly version… there’s also the Alexander Skarsgård cut.”
That’s a cut we’d like to see, even if we have to lick the actor’s boots (a reference to a scene in the film) to do so.
Lighton also told Variety that there could be more edits because he had to “de-shine” some semen to get the film released in the US by distributors A24. “Apparently that’s what pushes you over the edge,” he said.
Described as a “a touching and frequently hilarious romance” and “graphic”, but “far from hardcore”, in Variety’s review, the film follows a man on a journey of self-discovery that involves back-alley hook-ups, boot licking and BDSM.
Melling said this very human story was what attracted him to the role.
“What’s so interesting about it was how it feels so relatable and familiar, but maybe dealing with a sub-culture that people aren’t so familiar with. It was how those two things interplay that I found so fascinating. You were taking romantic comedy tropes and subverting them.”
Meanwhile, Skarsgård, no stranger to undressing on screen, said the nudity was “delicious”. The film also features Scissors Sisters star Jake Shears.
No release date has been revealed yet.
