Fans are speculating that JoJo Siwa and her Celebrity Big Brother co-star Chris Hughes are in a relationship after the singer changed the lyrics to one of her songs.
In April, JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes gave their first joint interview post-Celebrity Big Brother, appearing on daytime TV show This Morning.
Their TV appearance followed them being seen repeatedly kissing, cuddling in bed and embracing during their time on the reality show, sparking controversy due to their age gap (Hughes is 32 and Siwa is 22), and the fact that Siwa was dating 27-year-old Australian influencer Kath Ebbs at the time, who she has since broken up with.
JoJo Siwa openly gave an update on her sexuality while on the show, stating that although she previously described herself as a lesbian, she now identifies herself as queer.
“I think that’s really cool, I’m switching letters. I’ve dropped the L and I’ve gone to the Q, baby! That’s what I love about sexuality,” she said.
On Wednesday (21 May), Siwa shared snaps from her 22nd birthday, with Chris Hughes, who had flown out to be with her on the special occasion.
Captioned, “This years birthday week was more magical than anything🤍🪄. Full of surprises, family time, performing, chilling, laughing, loving, smiling, and good meaningful cries. Absolutely beautiful, wouldn’t change a single thing🤍 a week I’ll remember for the rest of my life,” Siwa shared a series of photos, the first showing Hughes gazing at her lovingly as she rests her head on his shoulder.
Another snap showed the pair eating breakfast together, with Siwa showing off her mug which sported a photo of Hughes’ face. A video of the pair together showed Hughes’ stack of hand-wrapped gifts for Siwa, while a different shot shows his hands firmly holding her leg against his.
Hughes has also taken to Instagram to share photos of the two together, captioning his post, “The previous 7 days have been the prettiest…”
Sparking further speculation that the pair might be official, Siwa paid tribute to Hughes while at her show in Mexico on Saturday night.
Performing a cover of Kim Carnes’ 1981 hit Bette Davis Eyes, Siwa ended the song on a high by changing the lyrics from “She’s got Bette Davis eyes” to “Chris Hughes’ eyes”.
The lyric swap, directed at Hughes who was in the crowd, left the singer beaming with pride and has added to the already intense speculation that the pair are a couple.

Under a TikTok post of the cover, one person commented: “Chrisss Hughes’ eyes. No stopppppp I am too invested in this. Is this how they are announcing they are official???”
“Omg JoJo and Chris we are literally all rooting [for] you, seriously made for each other,” another comment read.
“Please just put us all out of our misery Jojo and tell us your married already,” another comment jested, while another comment read, “I cannot tell if this is a hard launch or if you guys are platonic…”
During their This Morning interview, the pair reiterated that their relationship is platonic. However, when asked whether she’d like it to become romantic in the future, Siwa replied, “Whatever life does, life will do.”
