RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 star Arrietty has revealed that she was ‘unhinged’ on set after her elimination, and ‘threw things’ backstage.
Season 17 of RuPaul’s Drag Race was its splashiest yet, complete with some double saves, gagworthy twists and a positive land slide of drama.
One of the gaggiest moments of the season followed the Villains’ Roast episode, when Arrietty was eliminated after stealing several jokes from season runner-up Jewels Sparkles – and left season winner Onya Nurve a particularly spiky mirror message.
“As one smelly b***h to another, Onya, please brush your teeth,” Arrietty wrote on the mirror.
The action did not go down well amongst viewers – but speaking to Joseph Shepherd on his Exposed: After Dark interview series, Arrietty has revealed that there was even more “unhinged” behaviour that didn’t make the edit.
“Y’all saw how unhinged I was. Y’all didn’t see the clips that they cut out.”
Continuing, Arrietty said, “[They cut] a lot. I was throwing myself on the ground, I was crawling… bananas.”
The season 17 star revealed that her meltdown happened after she had been eliminated, during and prior to writing her infamous mirror message to Onya.
“I was off the rails, and they broke me. I mean, I look like Azula [from Avatar: The Legend of Aang] in the mirror message. They broke my ass.”
She continued, “I was even worse [than Pangina crying after her elimination]. I was violent worse. I was throwing things. Anything I saw. Boom, boom. Doing a cartwheel, fell. I feel things. I’m an emotional creature, but that day, and that moment specifically, everything was so heightened and I didn’t know how to deal with it.”
Following the broadcasting of Arrietty’s mirror message to Onya, she posted that the pair were “gucci” and had “hashed it out” on X.
Things didn’t remain all that quiet for Arrietty though, as an online clash with All Stars 10 queen and former drag mother Irene the Alien erupted recently.
RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 10 will be available to stream on Paramount+ in the US and WOW Presents Plus internationally from 9 May.
