Sports clothing brand Puma, which has steadfastly refused to roll back its support for DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion), has said “LGBTQ+ rights” and released a brand-new collection to “celebrate Pride worldwide.”
The collection is part of the brand’s Equal Love Confederation, which Puma launched under their Equal Love banner, Footwear News reports.
“Equal Love Confederation is here to celebrate Pride worldwide,” Puma said in a statement, adding: “This collection brings together the spirit of football, the nostalgia of Y2K and the concept of shared wardrobes into one vibrant, gender-neutral Pride collection.”
“Football-inspired pieces are transformed with terrace details, bold graphics, and all the colors of the LGBTQ+ flag,” Puma continued. “The result is a collection that urges the global community to work towards a more inclusive and accepting world, on and off the pitch. Stand out, be yourself, and play with pride.”
Many US companies have U-turned on their former support for LGBTQ+ Pride month, held annually in June, in the face of president Trump’s attacks on corporate DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) policies.
However, Puma are standing firm and have not rolled back their DEI efforts, despite the political climate. The company’s DEI page is still up, and reads: “Diversity is a key component in our working culture and expressed in our employer value ‘Be You’. It is not just a phrase – it’s about creating a place where every employee can be who they are.
“Equality and non-discrimination are embedded in PUMA’s corporate culture. We want to continuously create a respectful and supportive workplace that enables everyone to simply be themselves.”
Puma’s Pride 2025 collection includes the snazzy Palermo Pride sneaker and Easy Rider Pride sneaker, the Cool Cat 2.0 Pride slide, multicolored football jerseys, rainbow-decorated shorts, tank tops, adjustable caps and more.
