We’re just a day away from getting a first trailer for Wicked: For Good, but already fans’ jaws are “on the floor” after a promo clip for the trailer (can you believe trailers have trailers now) that shows off each of the main characters’ looks.
On Tuesday (3 June) the Wicked movie social media accounts shared a short promo profiling Elphaba, Fiyero, Madame Morrible, The Wizard of Oz, Boq, Nessarose, and finally, Glinda.
Each character is seen in a brand new outfit and style to how we last saw them at the end of Wicked. Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) has her long braided hair down and is wearing more worn-out looking clothes but still has those characteristic talons.
Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) sports his soldier’s uniform, keeping true to the stage musical the films are based on. Both Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) and The Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) sport new, exquisite outfits but otherwise seem relatively unchanged (“for good”)
Meanwhile Boq (Ethan Slater) is suited up in a new uniform. In the second act of the stage show he serves Nessarose (Marissa Bode) who can be seen in the promo wearing an authoritative looking black outfit.
And Glinda (Ariana Grande) appears in a sparkly new gown, reminiscent of the gown the character wears in the show.
The video is captioned: “Thank Goodness! ✨ #WickedForGood trailer tomorrow.” The whole thing is set to the song ‘For Good’ which will appear in the film.
As the trailer draws to a close, we hear Erivo and Grande sing “I have been changed…” but their voices cut out before they can sing the final two words. Instead, a piano plays the same notes as the title card flashes on the screen.
One fan wrote in the comments, “i’m already on the floor.” Someone else wrote, “Excited for this,” while another fan added, “Cannot wait!!!!” So, generally, people are fairly excited!
Fervour of when we’d get a first good look at Wicked: For Good has been rampant ever since Wicked premiered late last year.
In May it was revealed audiences in the United States and Canada would get an exclusive look at it when Wicked returned to cinemas for one night only on Wednesday (4 June).
This understandably caused some dismay for fans around the world. Though, it now appears that the suspicions of some were true that the trailer would be released worldwide the same day if not very shortly after.
What we know for sure about Wicked: For Good is, it has to be said, very little. We can only assume it will stay as close to the plot of the stage show as Wicked did.
Marissa Bode shared one update a while back that “some changes’ have been made specifically regarding her character. Nessarose is disabled and Bode is the first disabled person to play the role. Bode has said the changes will make Wicked: For Good “less harmful to disabled people.”
Wicked: For Good is set to be released in cinemas on 21 November 2025.
