Gay GB News host Alex Armstrong has railed against Pride month, claiming that the celebrations “do the exact opposite” of tackling homophobia.

The presenter – not to be confused with Pointless host Alexander Armstrong – made the comments during a debate segment titled ‘Do we need Pride Month?’, with a clip subsequently shared on his social media accounts on Wednesday (4 June).

“Things like Pride do the exact opposite to what Jonathan [a guest on the show] thinks they do. It turns people off,” Alexander said. “What I see when I see some of those Pride events is fetishes being displayed on the street, men running naked around, thinking that’s acceptable when there are children walking around.

“It doesn’t show anything good about the gay community. It stereotypes them, and there’ll be millions of gay men, thousands of them watching tonight, who’ll go: ‘Actually, I don’t want that representing us’.”

Armstrong, acknowledged that the LGBTQ+ community was facing a “backlash” but said it was “the fault of these far-left institutions that have pushed the agenda too far”.

He went on to say: “They’ve advocated for puberty blockers for children. During the 2000s gay rights was being relatively accepted, people have got over the fear of it all and moved on. The public had moved on. Do you know what? We don’t really care anymore.

“It’s the assimilation argument all over again, isn’t it? Do you want to be part of society, or do you want society to look at you and think you are different?”

Taking his argument to Instagram, Armstrong wrote: “Millions of gay people are sick of having their sexuality weaponised, being told it’s the most important thing about them. Then you get the far-left activist LGBT groups pushing their degenerate ideology down people’s throats on top of it all.”

Such comments are not unusual on GB News. Earlier this year, more than 50,000 people complained after political commentator and comedian Josh Howie compared all LGBTQ+ people to paedophiles.

During a broadcast of Headliners, a segment which examines the headlines of the day, Howie highlighted the story of Episcopalian bishop Mariann Budde who urged US president Donald Trump to “show mercy” to queer people.

“I just want to say that that includes paedos,” Howie said.

In response to the subsequent backlash, Howie took to social media to say the comment was “simply a “joke”.

He claimed that he “advocates for LGB rights” and was specifically referring to the “+”., but went on to say: “Still, [Budde’s speech] was a bit rich coming from a bishop, and being a comedian, on a comedy show, I made a joke about paedophilia in the Church, connecting it to the wrong ‘uns in the +”
