Wicked: For Good drops first spellbinding, darker trailer: ‘There’s no going back’

Wicked: For Good has released its first trailer, and Elphaba, Glinda and Fiyero are back for a darker trip down the Yellow Brick Road – and yes, you will be changed. For good.

The follow-up to 2024’s Wicked, which itself is an adaptation of the first half of the global smash hit Broadway show, Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey are back as Glinda, Elphaba and Fiyero in Wicked: For Good.

‘Part Two’ is set to adapt the second half of the stage play, and as teased in the first trailer, Wicked: For Good is less, shall we say, cheerful than it’s 2024 counterpart.

Wicked ended with Elphaba fully stepping into her power during a sickening rendition of “Defying Gravity“; she leaves Glinda and her burgeoning love interest Fiyero behind with the Wizard and Madame Morrible and yeets herself off into the sunset on her trusty broom.

With Elphaba effectively on the run (fly), and Glinda and Fiyero working for the Wizard and Morrible, tensions are high, and the trailer opens with Glinda asking to Elphaba to “come inside before the monkeys spot [her]” so the pair of friends can have a clandestine meeting.

“There’s no going back,” Elphaba says. “This is between us. The Wizard, and I.” The green-skinned baddie is seen in her hideout, easily making objects levitate, and seemingly fully in charge of the Grimmerie.

Prince Fiyero is also seen (looking very sexy) “hot on the trail” of his former love interest, and a wedding between the former and Glinda taking place. (Sidenote, Ariana looks stun).

And, of course, the soundtrack for Wicked: For Good gets some tantalising teasers – the trailers plays snippets of the titular duet, “For Good”, which will undoubtedly have viewers sobbing.

Jeff Goldblum’s Wizard and Michelle Yeoh’s Madame Morrible crop up too, attempting to find and capture Elphaba to use her for their own nefarious plans.

And we also get a glimpse at a very familiar quarter of characters; a girl in some sparkly slippers, a cowardly looking lion, a tin man and a scarecrow, stood in front of the ‘Wizard’.

“It’s time for both of us to fly,” Elphaba tells Glinda, who tells Elphaba that she’s her “only friend that mattered.” Tears.

Wicked: For Good is set to be released in cinemas on 21 November 2025 – and if we’re lucky, will be accompanied by another bonkers press tour.
