The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) is the latest organisation to be criticised over its muted Pride Month support.
Pride Month has arrived, and with it the release of a range of LGBTQ+ merchandise and declarations of allyship from various organisations.
However, amid US president Donald Trump’s attacks on corporate DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) initiatives, many organisations have scaled back their public support for Pride.
NASCAR is the latest to be called out for its weak support of Pride Month, which has so far featured one measly post on LinkedIn.
“We celebrate the LGBTQ+ community during Pride Month and beyond,” read the post, which was accompanied by a poster that said, “NASCAR celebrates Pride Month”.
Last year, NASCAR shared the post to X – where it has 3.6 million followers – but failed to do so this year.
Followers of the sport where quick hit out at its weak support, with one writing: “Hey @NASCAR is there a reason you’ll post this on LinkedIn but not any other social media platform?”

Another responded: “Excuse me?? LinkedIn??? Oh we HAVE to have more courage than that.”
“I’d be willing to guess so they don’t upset 90% of their fan base and have to read hateful and disgusting comments,” another wrote of the organisation’s choice not to post on X.
Last year, when the organisation celebrated Pride Month on X, the post was flooded with hate.
One follower of the sport claimed that it was “pandering to the gay community”, while another wrote, “You lost a 50-year fan” and a comment comparing the LGBTQ+ community to paedophiles described the support as “gross”.
@NASCAR is pandering to the gay community. Like one percent of your audience is gay. You stupid idiots piss off the majority of your fan base by embracing the global homo agenda. pic.twitter.com/WYMxzz6wtD

There are still leading brands and companies who are supporting Pride Month fully, including Levi’s, Converse, Hollister, and Disney.
PinkNews has contacted NASCAR for comment.
