Cartoon Network has responded to homophobic comments on a Pride month post by trolling the trolls.

Over the weekend, a selection of fan art was posted on the channels Instagram account, depicting some of the channel’s favourite characters celebrating Pride, including Princess Bubblegum and Marceline, from Adventure Time, with the caption: “You are an experience. Pride is a reminder to live bravely in your authenticity. Use your voice, stand up for others and spread love.”

Among the comments left by trolls was one saying: “My childhood is gone, there is nothing else to say.” Another person responded by posted several puking emojis.

But Cartoon Network wasn’t willing to take the insults lying down. To the troll lamenting the apparent loss of their childhood, a spokesperson replied: “Doesn’t seem like you’ve grown up though.”

They went on to say: “Watching comments be mad about characters from a show that aired 15 years ago… some of [you] need to rewatch some episodes.”

Fans were soon following suit, taking to the comments to also make fun of the haters. One person said: “Watching grown men get bent outta shape about this never fails to make me laugh, happy Pride.”
