A married gay couple from London are among those killed in Thursday’s deadly Air India crash.

Former BBC TV show DanceX contestant Jamie Greenlaw-Meek, 45, and his husband Fiongal Greenlaw-Meek, 39, were travelling on the aircraft that came down Ahmedabad on Thursday (12 June).

The Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner destined for London Gatwick was engulfed in flames after plummeting into a building in the suburb of Ahmedabad, the largest city in Gujarat state, just moments after taking off from Ahmedabad Airport at 10.08 am.

The couple, who ran a wellness and lifestyle company called The Wellness Foundry, filmed themselves laughing in a post shared on their company’s instagram account just hours before the flight.

Fionga said: “We are at the airport, just boarding, goodbye India”. His husband then joked about the 10-hour flight back to England.

In another post, the couple, who were in India on a 10-day wellness retreat, promised to share a vlog with their followers of their “mind blowing” experience in India.

As reported by The Standard, officials have confirmed that the flight was carrying at least 230 passengers, of which 53 were British. 10 cabin crew and two pilots were also onboard. Authorities have confirmed that at least 200 people were killed in the crash, and the death toll is expected to rise.

Fiongal previously appeared on ITV’s This Morning to speak about people’s auras and what they mean.

Former This Morning editor Martin Frizell paid a heartfelt tribute to the couple on Instagram in which he recalled Fiongal’s appearance on the show.

He shared: “I remember his visit to the studio in January, he was passionate about auras and although I’m a sceptical sort his vibrancy and sheer enthusiasm won folk over. And I know for a fact that he hoped to use his appearance on This Morning to build his Wellness brand, he had a great future ahead of him.”

Ramsgate Pride, where the couple were set to make an appearance this weekend, took to Instagram Stories to share that they are “heartbroken”.

British-Indian man Vishwash Kumar Ramesh has been named as the sole survivor of the crash.
