The world of drag is gearing up for its first ever drag king reality TV show, as King of Drag is now just days away from arriving on our screens.
The groundbreaking contest will be with us in less than a week, arriving on Revry on 22 June, satiating the drag community’s hunger for more king representation on TV.
Hosted by New York City comedian and drag pioneer Murray Hill, King of Drag will see a group of 10 fierce drag kings from across the United States compete for their place on the throne.
The contestants will perform, joke, act and create their way to the top, as they vie to be dubbed the inaugural “King of Drag”.
Now, a new teaser for episode one has just arrived via Pride, and it already looks equally as chaotic – if not more so – than its drag queen equivalent show, RuPaul’s Drag Race.

In the short clip, Murray Hill declares that it’s “time for something bigger” as he welcomes the contestants into the very first televised drag king competition.
The kings are then seen grabbing sports balls out of a cart, pouring water into each other’s mouths against a green screen, and posing for photos. At the end of the clip, it even looks like there’s a group performance or two to come – and that’s all in one episode.
“I’m going to be judging all of you very harshly,” says regular judge, Drag Race season nine winner Sasha Velour.
Alongside Murray Hill, Revry co-founder Damian Pelliccione, and drag kings Tenderoni, and Wang Newton will serve as permanent judges.
According to Pride, episode one will be a sports-themed challenge, with queer, non-binary WNBA basketball star Layshia Clarendon serving as a guest judge.
It’s a pretty stacked guest judge list across the board, with Drag Race stars Kylie Sonique Love, Carmen Carrera and Gottmik appearing on the panel.
Dragula winner Landon Cider, Real Housewives star Lisa Rinna, Tony Award-winning Broadway star Cole Escola, Yellowjackets actor Liv Hewson, Our Flag Means Death star Vico Ortiz, and drag legend Jackie Beat will also appear as guest judges.
Last month, Revry unveiled the full cast list of performers taking part in season one of King of Drag, including some pretty impressive pun names. Plus, a whole range of talents, including comedy, SFX, and aerial acrobatics.
