A European city just an hour’s flight from London has been named the second most LGBTQ+-friendly in the world.
In celebration of Pride Month, Big 7 Travel released its 2025 list of the most LGBTQ+-friendly cities in the world.
Coming in top place is Lisbon, Portugal, followed by Dublin, Ireland.
Dublin’s high ranking follows LGBT Ireland launching an initiative titled ‘Making Ireland the Best Place in Europe to be LGBTQI+‘, with the goal of seeing the country become the friendliest nation for LGBTQ+ people in Europe.

The initiative, which is running from 2023 to 2027, focuses on research, LGBTQ+ awareness training and combatting anti-trans views in the country.
Taking third place for being one of the most LGBTQ-friendly cities in the world is Porto, Portugal, followed by London, UK, Madrid, Spain and Berlin, Germany.
Amsterdam, Netherlands, San Francisco, USA, Toronto, Canada and Sydney, Australia were also highlighted in Big 7 Travel’s top ten.

Adam Long, the board director of Ireland’s National LGBT Federation, previously told PinkNews: “Having been the first in the world to overwhelmingly affirm marriage equality by popular vote, and pass progressive gender-recognition reform the same year, we now need to see further progress concerning the likes of effective hate crime laws, a full ban on so-called conversion therapy and proactive LGBT+ inclusion in all our schools, among other key priorities.”
Earlier this month, Mark O’Meara, the president of the GRA (Garda Representative Association), encouraged others to take pride in their sexuality after coming out.
In an interview with Garda Review, O’Meara, who is halfway through his two-year term as president of the more than 11 thousand strong union, opened up about his former marriage and coming out process.
