The Umbrella Academy‘s Elliot Page has hard launched his first public relationship since coming out as a trans man.
The actor, who came out as trans in 2020, posted a selfie with Ad World star Julia Shiplett on his Instagram profile on Sunday (29 June). The pair cosied up while on a rainbow-paved road, with Page adding a rainbow emoji and a double pink heart emoji.
Shiplett appeared to confirm the relationship on her Instagram, sharing a video of Page standing shirtless in a hot spring with the caption “Happy Pride.”
This marks Page’s first public relationship since his divorce from dancer Emma Portner in 2021, as well as his first since coming out.
Fans flooded the comments with messages of love and support, calling the couple cute and wishing them a happy Pride.

But speaking to the LA Times in 2023, he shared that he’s now having “the most fun [he’s] ever had dating”. In his memoir Pageboy, published in two years ago Page opened up about a secret relationship with a closeted actress, describing the emotional toll of not being able to live openly.
He discussed other queer relationships as well, in one chapter talking about Pose and House of Cards star Kate Mara, with whom he fell in love shortly after coming out as gay in 2014.
“It was a time of exploration and also heart-break,” he wrote. “I think my relationship, or whatever you want to call it, with Kate, very much encapsulates a certain dynamic that I consistently found myself in, which was falling for people who – I think a lot of us do this – aren’t fully available.”
He also mentioned bisexual actress Olivia Thirlby, with whom he had sex “all the time”.
