Another star of Red, White & Royal Blue will be appearing in the sequel.
Red, White & Royal Blue 2 will follow on from the first film which was based on Casey McQuiston’s best-seller about an English prince falling for the son of the first female president of the United States.
We already know that both leading men, Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez, will be reprising their roles and it has now been revealed that Uma Thurman, who played president Ellen Claremont, will also be returning.
In an interview with Letterboxd, Thurman said: “That movie was a joy. When [the sequel] is ready, I will do it. We don’t know what Ellen will be up to but she’ll be up to something.” At the end of the first film, the president won a second term in the White House.
The star went on to discuss her character’s dialect, which she has been teased about, and, referring to the current US political situation, said imagining a LGBTQ+-inclusive female president was “such an alternative better world”.

News of Thurman’s return adds to the recent update from McQuiston.
The non-binary author told Yahoo: “What you can expect from the sequel is a glimpse into Alex and Henry’s life after the confetti has finished falling from the first movie.
“[They] have to move forward together as two adults in a real, serious adult partnership, with pressures and expectations and dreams that might be coming into conflict with each other, and things that might be pulling them and pushing them in different directions.”
McQuiston is co-writing the sequel with Matthew López, who wrote and directed the first film.
Red, White & Royal Blue is streaming on Prime Video now.
