Miriam Margolyes addresses ‘death’s door’ rumours in sweary Edinburgh Fringe TikTok: ‘Bollocks’

Actor and lesbian icon Miriam Margolyes has addressed rumours that she is “at death’s door”, calling the reports “bollocks” and claiming she’s “raring to go to the Edinburgh Fringe”.
“You might have seen on the internet, and in a few papers, something a few knobheads wrote that I was at death’s door,” she addressed in a TikTok video.
Miriam Margolyes, who has been open about her health concerns, including a heart operation in 2023, described reports that she was close to death as “bollocks”, adding: “I’m very much alive and raring to go to the Edinburgh Fringe this year.”
“My legs are open to all of you”
The 84-year-old actor and comedian added that “my heart, my life and my legs are open to all of you” in her upcoming Fringe show Margolyes and Dickens: More Best Bits.

“Oh my goodness you’ll have a good time,” Margolyes continued, commenting on her upcoming Fringe show.
“After a little bit of Dickens, there’s a lot of Miriam Margolyes, I’ll tell you anything you like,” she said, adding that she would be taking audience questions during the show.
Fans were gagged by Margolyes’ sweary life update, with one commenting: “My goal in life is to give as many less effffs as Miriam”.
Another said: “Miriam and David Attenborough aren’t allowed to die actually it’s impossible”.

Miriam Margolyes’ Edinburgh Fringe show Margolyes and Dickens: More Best Bits will be running from 9 August to 24 August at 6pm daily, and promises to be “an unfiltered free-for-all of outrageous honesty, hilarious new anecdotes and unapologetic opinions.”
The show will be performed at the Pentland Theatre at Pleasance at EICC, with tickets priced at £26.50.
