Harry Potter star Bonnie Wright has teamed up with American drag icon Pattie Gonia for a surprising TV project.
Wright, who was the actress who played Ginny Weasley in the fantasy film series, has joined Pattie in Go Gently, a new TV series which sees the duo explore the US for climate change solutions.
An official synopsis for the show reads: “Bonnie Wright and Pattie Gonia embark on a journey of discovery as they travel a scenic road trip from LA to Portland to learn how communities along the route are inspiring eco-friendly practices to the way we eat, shop and travel.”
Teasing their collaboration on TikTok over the weekend (19 July), Pattie Gonia shared a clip of her and Wright taking part in the viral “Is This Illegal?” trend.
The clip begins by showing Pattie shaking hands with someone, as “Illegal” by British singer PinkPantheress plays.
“A ginger who grew up watching Harry Potter and fights for climate,” reads the text laid over the clip of Pattie shaking hands.
The clip then cuts to Wright shaking hands, with the text reading: “A ginger who grew up in Harry Potter and fights for climate.”
As the pair continue shaking hands, the text reads: “They combine ginger forces and make a TV show about climate solutions.”
In the caption for the video, Pattie confirmed that Go Gently is streaming now on Prime Video in the US and HBO in Europe.
“Go Gently” is the name of Wright’s YouTube channel, which she has used for several years to conjure “inventive ways we can participate in the climate movement in our day to day lives”.
In 2022, Wright released Go Gently, a “tip-filled guide to changing your habits, living more sustainably, and taking action” against the climate crisis.

Bonnie Wright has also been a vocal ally of the LGBTQ+ community, and spoke out in support of transgender women following JK Rowling’s early remarks against the trans community.
In June 2020, Rowling published her infamous “TERF Wars” essay in which she outlined why she was “concerned” about “trans activism”.
Wright responded in a post on X, then Twitter, writing: “If Harry Potter was a source of love and belonging for you, that love is infinite and there to take without judgment or question. Transwomen are Women. I see and love you, Bonnie x”.

She has since said that while she does “still stand with that same feeling” she prefers “not to comment more” on Rowling’s views.
Pattie Gonia has become one of the most notable drag stars in the US in recent years, thanks largely to their environmental activism.
The performer has previously been named as one of the “most impactful and influential LGBTQ+ people” by Out magazine, while TIME magazine dubbed Pattie as one of their “Next Generation Leaders” in 2023.
In 2024, Pattie was named as one of National Geographic’s Travelers of the Year.
The drag icon has hosted numerous climate-themed drag events in order to raise awareness of the climate crisis, including Save Her!
Last month, Save Her! hosted trans model, influencer and estranged daughter of Elon Musk, Vivian Jenna Wilson, as she made her drag debut.
