Republican Nancy Mace has been mocked for misinterpreting the viral Coldplay concert meme.
US representative Mace, well-known for her attacks on trans people, shared a post on X/Twitter in an effort to praise president Donald Trump’s economic programmes.
The post featured a screenshot of the moment Astronomer’s then chief executive Andy Byron and the US tech firm’s head of human resources, Kristin Cabot, were caught on a kiss cam at the concert in Wisconsin last week – allegedly exposing their affair.
The pair quickly ducked out of view before the band’s Chris Martin said they were “either having an affair or very shy”. The incident has given birth to a host of parodies and memes.

Trying her hand at the format, Mace labelled Byron “Trump’s economy” and Cabot “American-Born Workers, writing: “Employment among American-born workers is up nearly two million jobs since January, thank you [Donald Trump].”
Users were quick to point out that, given the context of the clip, labelling the pair as such might not be the slam dunk Mace thought it was.
“The best part about your post is that, within hours of this picture, they were both out of a job,” one user claimed. Byron has resigned while Cabot has reportedly been placed on leave.
Another joked: “Considering [Trump] cheated on all his wives, it makes sense that the American worker is also a side piece.”
The claim that Trump has created millions of jobs is open to question. In March, factcheck.org reported that his administration had made “several misleading statements” about job growth since January.
Mace is rarely out of the limelight these days. In April, she was criticised for repeatedly using the word “tr**ny” during an official visit to the University of South Carolina, and she was also recorded screaming at a voter in a supermarket after he asked whether she planned to hold any town hall meetings this year.
She accused the individual of harassing her, and seemingly assuming he was gay, began citing her voting history on same-sex marriage. “You people on the left are absolutely f**king crazy,” she yelled.
And in January, she put forward proposals to ban trans people from toilets in the Capitol building in Washington DC, shortly after Sarah McBride was sworn in as the first trans congresswoman.
