Straight men (or anyone, for that matter), listen up. Benito Skinner has got some “important” dating advice for you.

The Overcompensating series writer and star, who drew on his own queer experience in the fan-acclaimed college comedy series, has delivered some essential advice to men.

Speaking on his and Mary Beth Barone’s podcast Ride, Skinner admitted that he’s a “sceptic” and “would tiptoe into it, always” when it comes to trusting men.

“I am always a sceptic at dinners. It’s my one scary thing. I find it so funny how relaxed these men are at dinners with me, and you know I am reading you down, girl.

“The second you go up to the s***er and fart at the urinal, I’m saying crazy s*** to your girl,” he quipped.

To this, his co-star, who plays his sister Grace in the Prime Video series, added: “You’re clocking it all. Honey, we’re going all the way off.”

“And by the way,” he continued. “Go wipe.”

Taking on a more serious tone, Skinner added: “I think my message to all straight men is, a dinner with a girl’s gay is much more important than you think it is. Some would say more important than a dinner with her father.”

“I completely agree,” Barone responded.

Skinner and Barone met in 2018 at a New York bar where they were both performing, and have been inseparable ever since. Barone opened for her now-best friend during his stage show, which was eventually adapted into the TV series.

“People ask us all the time if Benny and I are siblings, which I always love, because we have different last names,” Barone told i-D Magazine. “I’m like, ‘Wow! How modern!’”

Overcompensating is available to stream on Prime Video now.
