A parody TikTok taking aim at the sexism England’s women’s national football team, the Lionesses, have faced in interviews has gone viral, with commenters calling the video “perfection”.

A TikToker named Charlotte Northover posted the video on Thursday (24 July), and, pretending to be a reporter interviewing the Lionesses, asks questions such as: “Who has the heaviest period on the England squad?” and “What does your boyfriend think of tonight’s performance?”

In a separate video, Northover acted as a post-match reporter interviewing a squad member, scathingly commenting: “You look shattered… and old. You look shattered and old!”

One commenter claimed: “This is legit what it sounds like to me.”

Another TikTok user added their own parody question: “Do you think you would have won if you’d smiled more?”

While some commenters poked fun at the video, a TikTok user pointed out that one of Northover’s joke questions (“Who would do best on Love Island?”) had actually been asked of a team member.

“Continuing to trivialise women’s football”

Ahead of the Euro 2025 quarter final, manager Sarina Wiegman and player Lucy Bronze were asked about who in the squad would do best on the ITV show, with neither of them opting to answer.

Fans of the Lionesses weren’t impressed with the question about Love Island, with one Twitter/X user writing: “Looking forward to them asking the men’s team the same question… Continuing to trivialise women’s football.”

Another wrote: “Glad to see mature and serious journalism at this major tournament. Really helping to build respect and grow the game.”
