Netflix has unveiled the first look at Pride and Prejudice starring Emma Corrin, Olivia Colman, and Heartstopper‘s Rhea Norwood.

The series based on Jane Austen’s classic novel of the same name tells the story of Elizabeth Bennett (Corrin) and her romance with Fitzwilliam Darcy, who will be played by Benediction‘s Jack Lowden.

On Tuesday (29 July), Netflix showed off a first look at Corrin as Elizabeth as the series entered production.

In the image Elizabeth, her mother, Mrs Bennett (Oscar-winner Olivia Colman) are wandering through a grassy plain. They’re joined by the other Bennett girls, Jane, Mary, Lydia, and also Kitty. They will be played by Freya Mavor, Hopey Parish, Norwood, as well as Hollie Avery respectively.

Not shown is the Bennett family patriarch, who will be played by Rufus Sewell. Rounding out the cast is Jamie Demetriou as the Bennett sisters’ awkward cousin, Mr Collins; Daryl McCormack as Mr Bingley, Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham as well as Siena Kelly as Caroline Bingley. Killing Eve‘s Fiona Shaw is also set to play Lady Catherine de Bourg, who Dame Judi Dench played in the 2005 film.

The six-part series will be a “faithful, classic adaptation” of Austen’s novel. It is also directed by Heartstopper‘s Euros Lynn. Dolly Alderton has written the screenplays.

The new adaptation of Pride and Prejudice was announced back in April. Corrin, who also doubles as an executive producer said at the time, “Playing Elizabeth Bennet is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. To be able to bring this iconic character to life, alongside Olivia and Jack, with Dolly’s phenomenal scripts, is truly the greatest honor. I can’t wait for a new generation to fall in love with this story all over again.”

The series is the latest in a long line of adaptations of the popular novel. The most recent version was Fire Island by Joel Kim Booster which provided a gay slant on the timeless story.
