World of Wonder has unveiled the first trailer for Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale and it’s brimming with gags, drama, and a glittering array of judges.
Slaysian Royale will see Asian drag queens from across the Drag Race world compete in an All Stars All Winners type season. Those taking part are: RuPaul’s Drag Race UK‘s Sum Tim Wong, RuPaul’s Drag Race‘s Yuhua Hamasaki, Drag Race Down Under‘s Ivory Glaze, Kitty Space from Drag Race France, Madame Yoko of Drag Race Belgique, Siam Phusri from Drag Race Thailand, and Suki Doll from Canada’s Drag Race.
Joining them will be previous Drag Race Philippines contestants Arizona Brandy, Bernie, Brididing, Khianna, and Viñas Deluxe.
But that’s far from all, as judging them will be a host of Drag Race stars and legends. In the trailer alone we glimpse Drag Race winners Sasha Colby and Nymphia Wind. Global All Stars winner Alyssa Edwards and All Stars 8 winner Jimbo are also seen. We also spotted Drag Race UK vs. the World‘s Marina Summers as well as Drag Race Thailand host Pangina Heals.
And just like any season of Drag Race, Slaysian Royale seems bursting with eleganza extravaganza. “It was near perfection when it came to your performance,” Heals tells one contestant. Meanwhile, Wind tells someone, “You look so hot.” And Colby informs someone that “this is what it means to level up.” And finally, Edwards exclaims, “this is the Slaysian Royale I was hoping to see.” All high praise so we are expecting everything on the runway!
And there’s no shortage of drama by the looks of things with tears and cheers aplenty. Sum Ting Wong can be seen crying as she discusses “having the opportunity just to learn my Asian self and the beauty of it with all of you”, which clearly means a lot to the UK queen.
“Are you ready to show the world how Asians slay?” asks presenter Paolo Ballesteros who then declares, “Let the slay-off begin!”
A synopsis for the series reads, “Filipino pride meets global Asian drag excellence in the fiercest drag showdown of the year! Building off the wildly-popular Drag Race Philippines format, 12 dazzling queens battle for the crown to enter the Slaysian Hall of Fame in this brand-new series entering the Drag Race universe.”
Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale will premiere on WOWPresentsPlus on 13 August.
