Hold onto your broomsticks! The second instalment of Wicked is nearing ever closer, and Marissa Bode has confirmed that a never-before-recorded solo song is set to appear in Wicked: For Good.

The follow-up to Jon M Chu’s hit film Wicked, an adaptation of the first half of the critically acclaimed Broadway musical, has already got fans excited despite its November release date.

In a new interview with Marissa Bode, who plays Elphaba’s sister Nessarose in the film adaptation, the disability activist has shared that she has indeed taken on the character’s iconic solo in the upcoming movie.

The queer actress told Variety in a recent interview that she has performed “Wicked Witch of the East” in the second instalment, a track which is yet to make it to an official Broadway cast album.

“There have been a number of people who say they’re super excited for [the song] ‘Wicked Witch of the East.’ I really hope it delivers and people receive it well,” she told the outlet.

“If they don’t, that’s OK, too. But because so many incredible actresses on Broadway have performed that song so strongly, and also just a very strong song in general, there are definitely big shoes to fill.”

Although Bode expressed that she felt pressure during recording for the track, she said she had “the support [from director Chu and the team] when I needed it, and I’m very grateful for that”.

“I’m really anxious and excited to see how the audience receives it,” she said.
