Pedro Pascal knows his DC characters from his porn stars, a video from a few years back has proved.
Before starring as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Pascal played villainous Maxwell Lord in Wonder Woman 1984.
During the press run to support the Wonder Woman sequel, which came out in 2020, Pascal was challenged by interviewer Josh Horowitz to distinguish between comic-book characters and the names of porn stars.
“Your character, Max Lord, has one of those great comic-book character names,” says Horowitz in the clip which has recently reappeared. “It’s a character name that could only exist in the comic books or in porn. So, here’s the challenge: I’m going to give you a name, you tell me if this is an actual DC character or a porn star.”

Pascal confidently predicts: “I’m going to know this.” However, he doesn’t get off to the best start. Asked about Damien Darhk, Pascal plumps for porn star, only for Horowitz to reveals the character is a DC villain.
“That’s a shame,” Pascal responds.
After that, The Last of Us favourite immediately identifies Herschel Savage a porn star. “You knew that too quickly. You knew that really quickly,” says Horowitz. Pascal then incorrectly labels George Payne as a comic-book character when he’s a porn star.
But he gets Hector Hammond and Black Adam, both DC characters, right, and pinpoints Buck Adams as a porn star. When it comes to the last name, Harold Allnut, Pascal says: “Does it matter which one he is? I’ll watch his work regardless, I am a fan. I hope he’s a porn star.”
When it’s pointed out that Allnut is a comic- book character (he’s Batman’s engineer), Pascal adds: “Kudos to DC. That’s a great name.”
Pascal has become known for his fun interviews during press tours.
During promos for The Fantastic Four, he explained to co-star Vanessa Kirby that “c***y” was a good thing. It came after the actress was praised for her “force-field snatched c*nty fierceness face.”
There was also an interview where the cast were asked about their first crushes. Among his, Pascal listed Star Wars veteran Harrison Ford as well as Olivia Newton-John in Grease and Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns.
There have also been occasions where “the internet’s daddy” demonstrated his allyship to the trans community.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is in cinemas now.
