Reneé Rapp has made her feelings known on Labubu dolls.
During an event to mark the release of her new album, Bite Me, in New York over the weekend, the singer greeted fans, one of whom asked the star to sign a particularly garish pink Labubu.
A viral video of the moment shows Rapp labelling Labubus “so ugly” while signing the doll. The fan, identified as Danielle by TikTok user @kristendarby, insisted the “Leave Me Alone singer” loved it, prompting the lesbian star to assure her: “I don’t.”
@pinknews Renée Rapp has given her unfiltered thoughts on Labubu dolls. Reneé was attending the release party for her new album “Bite Me” when a fan approached her asking for a signature on their Labubu. She reacted by calling it ‘so f*cking ugly.’ She then clarified she wasn’t attacking the person filming but the doll itself. Rapp insisted that she wasn’t attacking the owner but the doll itself. Other fans were quick to praise her for being so honest. “She told no lies, I don’t know why people are so obsessed with them,” one wrote on Reddit.
Others said: “She ain’t lying,” and, “Good on her for speaking her truth.”

Originally only known in China, Labubus found viral fame this year when people started hanging them from bags or belts. They were first designed by illustrator Kasing Lung in his 2015 book The Monsters. They were then turned into toys by China-based retailer Pop Mart.
The items have become something of a collectible, often coming in “blind boxes”, so people don’t know what was inside. Rare versions have sold for up to $170,000 (£128,000).
Bite Me, Rapp’s third studio album which is streaming now, is a departure from her earlier music. The 12-track album, which includes first single “Leave Me Alone,” features the star focusing on relationships and work.
