S Club star Jon Lee has shared that he has been celibate for six years while taking part in the latest series of Celebs Go Dating.
The singer and actor rocketed to fame in the late 1990s as a member of the pop band formerly known as S Club 7. They gave us hits such as “Reach,” “Never Had A Dream Come True,” and “Bring It All Back.” After the group disbanded in 2003, Lee turned his hand to acting with a number of roles in London’s West End, including Les Misérables and Jersey Boys.
Now Lee has turned to reality TV appearing on Celebs Go Dating, which sees celebrities try and find true love. In the latest series’ first episode, which aired on Monday (11 August), Lee joined other celebrities including Kerry Katona and a newly-out Christine McGuinness.

In his introductory video, Lee, who was just 16 when he joined S Club, described being in the band as an “incredible experience.” He also said the best S Club song to describe his dating life was 2000 track “Bring the House Down” as his dating life has been “a car crash.”
“I’ve been single for six years and in that whole time that means I’ve been celibate as well,” he revealed. His ideal man is “someone who is rough around the edges, seems like quite a nice, fun guy, but looks like they could rip your head off with their bare hands if they really wanted to.”
In a separate promo for the show, Lee elaborated on his ideal man. The S Club singer said he was looking for someone who is “too busy to see me,” explaining that he likes his space. “My ideal man would be someone who is a gentle giant, someone who’s got a good sense of humour. A man of few words would be ideal, and someone who looks like he could chop down a tree with his bare hands. Basically, I’m looking for a boyfriend/bodyguard rolled into one.”

In June, The Sun reported that Lee had met Jordain Fairhurst on the dating programme. A source told the paper that the two had a connection “instantly” and, as of June, were dating.
In a recent interview with the ilOnline Lee opened up about his past addiction struggles, which saw him spending £250 a week on crystal meth – more than his mortgage. “Sometimes, in the midst of one of the psychotic episodes, where I’d be smashing my flat up with a hammer, I’d catch sight of myself in the mirror and say: ‘What the f**k?’,” he said.
Celebs Go Dating airs on E4 or you can watch on Channel 4’s streaming service.
