Drag Race UK finalist La Voix has been announced as a competitor on Strictly Come Dancing 2025, becoming the show’s first drag queen contestant on a full-length season.
Tayce, star of Drag Race UK‘s second season, appeared on and won the 2024 Christmas special of the long-running BBC competition.
The Sun first reported that La Voix, who finished as a runner up to Kyran Thrax on the sixth season of the UK-based spinoff, had been signed by Strictly last night (12 August).
Now, the news has been confirmed, with the official Strictly Come Dancing social media pages announcing the news.
Alongside a clip featuring a photo of La Voix popping out of a glitterball, the post reads: “Start your engines! @bbcdragrace superstar @lavoixtheshow is here to sashay her way onto #Strictly”.
“ABOUT TIME!!!,” commented former Strictly pro Oti Mabuse. “You’ve been dreaming about this for years – I hope it’s everything and more you’ve been waiting for.”
“Major!!! This year is going to be so camp! congratulations,” wrote fellow Drag Race UK star Elektra Fence.
“Yes!!!!! Yes!!!! Yes!!!!!! Crown her already,” commented Tracy Beaker star and Drag Race superfan, Dani Harmer.
I Kissed A Girl narrator Charley Marlowe added: “This is the best booking strictly has ever made, @lavoixtheshow INCREDIBLE.”
La Voix is no stranger to a reality competition show, having dominated Drag Race UK during the 2024 season, and appearing on Britain’s Got Talent previously.
Tayce recently seemingly shaded the thus far announced cast of Strictly Come Dancing 2025, with a post on X that read: “Guess I was too much,” accompanied by a disco ball emoji.
Tayce and pro partner Kai Widdrington won the Christmas special, despite backlash from trolls after the Welsh icon made herstory as the first drag queen to appear on Strictly.
So far, the confirmed cast of Strictly Come Dancing 2025 consists of EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal, Love Island winner Dani Dyer, Doctor Who‘s Alex Kingston, former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, social media content creator George Clarke and ex-Olympic sprinter Harry Aikines-Aryeetey.
Strictly Come Dancing will air on BBC One and iPlayer from next month.
