The Ultimatum: Queer Love season two stars AJ Blount and Britney Thompson have spoken out following the explosive reunion, claiming that the show “missed the majority of the story”.
Warning: The Ultimatum: Queer Love season two spoilers ahead.
The second iteration of the history-making first series followed six more queer couples, who were faced with the ultimatum of deciding whether to marry or move on.
Hosted for a second time by JoAnna Garcia Swisher, the experiment sees the couples, who are on the verge of getting married, separated for eight weeks so they can date other partners. They are then reunited with their first partner, and have to decide their future: who, if anyone, should they be with?
The Ultimatum: Queer Love puts contestants through the ultimate compatibility test, and for one couple, AJ and Britney, they passed, as they’re still together now.
Speaking to PinkNews weeks after the series wrapped up, AJ and Britney suggested that they weren’t thrilled with the way they were portrayed on the show.

The series saw Nurse-cum-entrepreneur Britney, 27, deliver an ultimatum to her administrative assistant/MC partner, AJ, 28, to see whether they’re aligned on the future.
“I want clarity on where we are going and if she sees forever the same way I do,” she said before the show.
But during her chat with PinkNews, she said that the show’s edit portrayed her as not caring about her relationship.
“I would be crying by the bathroom. My partner is over there, and we’re exes right now,” she said.
“The edit shows [that] I don’t care, I’m just here having a good time… We would have people take us away so that they could reset, or something… I would be crying in the bathroom.”
Britney continued, claiming that the series is “definitely missing a majority of the story because we filmed for five days a week, a minimum of 10 hours a day.
“So, I mean, there’s a lot cut out,” she said.
However, it’s typical of reality shows to condense weeks of filming into hour-long, bitesized episodes.
PinkNews has contacted Netflix for comment.
AJ agreed with her partner, claiming that the final Netflix edit “looks so much heavily focused on my dates and what I was saying on those dates”.
“I feel like I resonated with a few people,” she added. “Especially for certain topics, not all things.
“There’s some things you’re being told, not told but suggested, [like] ‘Hey, maybe you should go back and talk about that situation over again,'” AJ claimed.
“They had to get us to stop talking about our exes so much.”
Britney continued: “It’s like you have to wipe your tear and then go try to flirt, right? We’re both dating simultaneously with some of the same people.”
“It’s harder going into it with someone that you love and care about,” AJ concluded.
The Ultimatum: Queer Love season two is available to stream on Netflix now.
