Trans non-binary runner Nikki Hiltz has shared behind-the-scenes footage of their top surgery journey.
Hiltz, who won at the USA Track and Field National Championships at the start of August, shared their top surgery journey in an Instagram video.
The clip shows candid moments from the process, offering fans an intimate glimpse into the milestone.
The athlete shared in the video that they feel it’s “important to share gender-affirming care to help normalise it,” adding that they had always “gender dysphoria around my boobs”.
“Gender-affirming care life changing and life saving,” text overlayed at the end of the clip read.
Hiltz captioned the post: “Since announcing I had top surgery I’ve been overwhelmed by all the love and support! Thank you to everyone who has called, texted, reached with a kind message or commented something uplifting, it really does mean a lot. Here’s a little peek behind the scenes of the journey I’ve been on this past year- excited to share more soon! Gender affirming care is healthcare!”

The video comes after Hiltz revealed that they’d undergone gender-affirming chest surgery one month after returning home from competing in the Paris Olympics.
Hiltz, who made history as one of the first the first out trans athletes to represent Team USA has long used their platform to champion LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport. In 2021, they came out as trans in celebration of International Transgender Day of Visibility.
