Tricia Cooke, writer of Drive-Away Dolls and Honey, Don’t! has confirmed that a third and final instalment to her ‘lesbian b-movie trilogy’ – which thus far has starred Margaret Qualley – is in the works.

The phrase ‘lesbian b-movie trilogy’ is just music to our ears – but unfortunately, this one is coming to an end.

Following on from 2024’s bonkers sapphic road-trip-buddy-comedy-turned-murder-mystery Drive-Away Dolls, and the soon to be released second instalment Honey, Don’t! starring Aubrey Plaza, Chris Evans and Margaret Qualley, the trilogy’s third act has got an update.

According to Deadline, Cooke, who co-wrote the trilogy with her husband Ethan Coen, who directed it, confirmed that round three is called Go Beavers – and that it’s in early development.

Cooke told NBC News that the film is about “a crew team who gets together for their reunion, and they start dying off one by one.”

But it won’t be a horror, she added, citng 1971 Australian survival film Walkabout as inspiration: “That film is whoa, psychedelic. What is life? It has a little more depth, so we’re thinking about taking it in that direction.”

Qualley, who is set to appear in this month’s Honey, Don’t! after also leading Drive-Away Dolls with Thunderbolts* star Geraldine Viswanathan, previously told i-D, “I have not read a script [for a third film] and I haven’t been contacted. But let the record show that if I’m not in [the third film], I will be offended and I will be upset.”

Qualley will portray private detective Honey O’Donahue in the upcoming comedy-mystery. She will investigate the death of a woman linked to a mysterious cult helmed by Chris Evans. Charlie Day and Plaza co-star.
