A US man has been accused of killing his 18-year-old child, Onyx Cornish.

Onyx Cornish was found dead at their home in Caldwell, Idaho, last Tuesday (19 August) by officers responding to reports of an armed man in the house. According to an affidavit, their body was found wrapped in a Pride flag, Idaho News 6 reports.

Their father, 51-year-old Delbert Cornish, was arrested later that evening.

Cornish was charged with murder and aggravated assault, according to court reports seen by People.

Onyx’s family has launched a GoFundMe to raise funds to pay for their final expenses and care for their family. The page remembers Hope as a “very loving and strong young woman”.

Following Onyx’s death, many people referenced the 18-year-old’s Instagram account, where it stated Onyx used he/they/she pronouns. We have updated this story accordingly to reflect that fact.

A target of $5,500 (£4,000) has been set, with more than $4,700 (almost £3,500) already raised

Cornish is due to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on 3 September.
