The LAPD responded to calls after a man that appeared to be the rapper was filmed walking along Ventura Boulevard in white underwear and cowboy boots on 21 August.

Lil Nas X was then arrested and taken to hospital for treatment for a possible overdose, after he allegedly charged at the officers responding to calls.

During a court appearance (25 Aug), he pleaded not guilty to the felony charges. His bail was reportedly set at $75,000, with the judge instructing him to attend four Narcotics Anonymous meetings per week, according to PEOPLE

Lil Nas X’s father Robert Stafford similarly recently broke his silence on his son’s arrest, telling reporters on Monday, 25 August, that his son is “going to get the help that he needs”.

Starfford said the rapper wass “very remorseful for what happened”, but also “in good spirits”.

“He’s going to get the help that he needs, and just keep him in your prayers,” he said.

“Give him the same grace and mercy that God gives everyone. He’s doing great mentally. We shed tears, we shed laughter, but he’s in great spirits. He’s gonna be great.”

Asked by reporters whether the “Old Town Road” performer had taken any “illegal drugs” prior to his arrest, Stafford responded: “Absolutely not.”

Speaking to the Associated Press, Lil Nas X’s attorney Attorney Christy O’Connor said that there was no evidence of drugs involved in last week’s incident, and stated that the altercation was an “absolute aberration” from his usual behaviour.

“Assuming the allegations here are true, this is an absolute aberration in this person’s life,” she said. “Nothing like this has ever happened to him.”

If convicted, Lil Nas X could face up to five years in prison.
