Hard-right Polish politician quits homophobic party after revealing he is dating intersex model

Hard-right Polish politician Dawid Szóstak has quit his homophobic party after revealing that he’s dating an intersex model.
Dawid Szóstak has said goodbye to the anti-LGBTQ+ Confederation party after sharing that he’s in a relationship with Poland’s Next Top Model finalist Michalina Manios, who was raised as a boy until the age of 18.
According to the Cleveland Clinic: “People who are intersex have genitals, chromosomes or reproductive organs that don’t fit into a male/female sex binary.
“Their genitals might not match their reproductive organs, or they may have traits of both. Being intersex may be evident at birth, childhood, later in adulthood or never. Being intersex isn’t a disorder, disease or condition.”
Speaking to Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza, Dawid Szóstak said: “Now I want to focus on what’s most important.”
According to the publication, Szóstak’s X bio used to read: “Catholic, Pole, nationalist. Confederate activist, member of the National Movement and the Union of Soldiers of the National Armed Forces.” He appears to have deleted his X account following the announcement.
He met Manios on a dating site and the pair bonded over their mutual Catholic and traditional values.
Szóstak said of Manios’ dating profile: “I liked the photos of Michalina. They radiated a lot of energy and femininity.”
In 2011, during her time on Poland’s Next Top Model, Manios, who at the time was 22, spoke about her experience of being intersex.
She said: “I was imprisoned from birth, I lived against myself. My body and mind developed toward femininity, but my genitals didn’t. I was ashamed to go to physical education classes because I was embarrassed.”
Manios came third on the reality TV show and also appeared on The Voice of Poland. She is currently studying a degree in Sexology and lives between Sweden and Poland.
