9-1-1 star Oliver Stark is ‘excited to delve deeper’ into his character Evan ‘Buck’ Buckley’s bisexuality in season nine – and he let us know while sweaty, topless and working out.

Speaking in an Instagram Story to celebrate Bisexual Day of Visibility (23 September), Oliver Stark has shared that not only will season nine of 9-1-1 feature threats from outer space, but also a deeper exploration into his Buck’s bisexuality – which fans have long been clamouring for.

“One of my biggest joys of playing Buck over the past eight/nine seasons is getting to tell the story of him discovering his bisexuality,” Stark told the camera.

“I hope, truly, that we have offered up some kind of positive representation. I’m really super proud of getting to be part of this storyline.”

Stark continued by expanding upon plans for Buck’s arc in season nine, and emphasising that bisexuality is valid – and that his 9-1-1 character’s arc is exemplary of that.

“I know there are a lot of people that think things like, you know, bisexual men are just too scared to come out as gay or whatever it is, and obviously that’s not the case.

“I really hope we get to hammer home that point this season. I’m excited to delve deeper and deeper into it. It’s just such an honour to get to be a part of telling this story, so thank you guys.”

Also, Stark let us know this while topless, sweaty and working out – and mercifully, the video has been captured and reposted to X from his Instagram Story.

One of 9-1-1‘s most popular ‘ships’ involves Buck and Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman), and is popularly known as ‘Buddie’.

Fans have been begging for the pair to be romantically linked for eight seasons now, with even Stark calling interactions between the pair “super gay”.

Showrunner for 9-1-1 season nine Tim Minear has already teased a key ‘Buddie’ episode in the upcoming instalment, telling Entertainment Weekly that a Hallowe’en episode will focus on the pair.

Previously Stark, on a potential ‘Buddie’ romance, said he’d be open to exploring a relationship between the pair if it’s “the right story to tell”.

9-1-1 is streaming on Disney+ in the UK. Season nine will premiere 9 October on ABC in the US
