UNHhhh producer ‘parts ways’ with World of Wonder, and fans think the show is ‘gone forever’

Pete Williams, the producer of multiple World of Wonder web series including Trixie and Katya’s UNHhhh, has ‘parted ways’ with the company – and fans are now convinced that the show isn’t ‘ever coming back’.

How funky is your chicken? How loose is your goose? Care for a f**king?

These are question we were only ever going to be posed through the minds of fan favourite season seven RuPaul’s Drag Race queens Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova.

The pair appeared together on the 2015 season, before both returning to the Werk Room to make the final of All Stars 2 and win All Stars 3 respectively – but before their second go around, they joined forces under Drag Race production company to spearhead UNHhhh, a web series where they talked about anything they wanted, because it was their show, and not ours.

With 229 episodes to date, covering everything from the concept of ‘weather’ to ‘mistakes’ to ‘gay’ (yep, just ‘being gay’), UNHhhh ran for eight seasons from 2016 to 2023 on WOW’s YouTube channel.

Despite a promise at the back end of season eight that the series would return for season nine (and a surprising update this year), there has been no official word on UNHhhh season nine – and now, with the resignation of chief producer Pete Williams, fans are convinced the show is gone: for good.

“BYE [World of Wonder],” Williams wrote in an Instagram post (23 September). “After 13 and a half years, World of Wonder and I are parting ways. I have spent a third of my life at this company. Creating content for my community that has (humble brag) harvested many viral moments.

“For over a decade, down in the basement green screen studio, I helped to capture queer joy to share with audiences across YouTube and beyond. Touching millions of lives. Making content that I wish I had as a young gay boy growing up in Utah.

“I have gotten to work with comedic masterminds and some truly genuine souls. And all the while, we were laughing. Because if we were having fun, the audience will too,” he wrote.

“I’ve learned so much about producing, directing and how to tongue pop, correctly. So if you’ve watched it on WOWPresents over the past decade, chances are that it came from my hands. And now a new journey begins.”

Fans across the web have taken Williams’ departure to mean that UNHhhh‘s return is now even more unlikely.

“Oh so UNHhhh really isn’t coming back,” one wrote on X.

Another added: “UNHHHh is gone for good huh” and a third wrote: “It’s actually gone forever…”

But a fourth pointed out that Williams, Trixie and Katya could now work outside of WOW to create their own series, writing: “And when he starts working with [them] directly and make an independent version of UNHhhh.”

Wiliams’ departure has been heralded by several Drag Race stars in the post’s comments, including Katya, who wrote: “You always were and always will be a paragon.”

Raja, who won season three of RuPaul’s Drag Race, returned for All Stars 7 and fronts Fashion Photo RuView web series with fellow alum Raven, wrote: “I love you so very much Pete. Thanks for your beauty, patience, and vision. You already know how much we adore you.”

Alongside UNHhhh, Fashion Photo RuView and more, Williams directed Dear Viv, the recent commemorative documentary on Drag Race UK season one winner The Vivienne following her passing, Sketchy Queens, Drag Tots and more.

As one legendary producer said once: It sounds like fear got the best of you.
