Pete Buttigieg laughed off Tucker Carlson’s wild claim that he is a “fake gay” who lied about his sexuality, joking that his husband could revoke his “gay card”.

On 3 September on his podcast, The Tucker Carlson Show, Carlson spoke with conservative political commentator Michael Knowles about a range of issues.

The name of gay Democrat Pete Buttigieg came up, to which Carlson responded, “The fake gay guy?”

“My gay producer is always like ‘he’s not gay.’ He was with a girl like 20 minutes ago and like he wants to be the Democratic nominee. It’s like: ‘time for a gay guy!’”

It was the second time Tucker Carlson, who departed from Fox in April 2023, has made the bizarre claim that Buttigieg isn’t gay. He previously made the claim last year.

During an appearance on Kara Swisher’s podcast, Buttigieg responded to Carlson’s latest comments, saying: “I suppose it’s a sign of progress that their idea of a conspiracy is that I’m actually secretly straight.”

In response to Swisher mentioning a meme, that she joked had led her to start to “agree with Tucker Carlson on this fake gay thing,” Buttigieg added: “Chasten, my husband, has threatened to have my gay card revoked so many times. This is just going to be the latest.”

Carlson gave the impression that he knows a great deal about gay sex, stating: “I’ve always wanted to interview him. He’s never agreed to an interview but I’m going to ask him like some very specific questions about gay sex and see if he can even answer. I doubt he even knows.”

‘I will admit some level of morbid curiosity on what in the hell he thinks’

Despite Carlson’s desire to interview Buttigieg and ask him “some very specific questions about gay sex”, the former US secretary of transportation said he wouldn’t want to “discuss anything with Tucker Carlson”.

Buttigieg added: “I cannot think of a topic I would like to discuss less with Tucker Carlson than that.

“Even though I will admit some level of morbid curiosity on what in the hell he thinks,” he said, before added, “Actually, no.”

Buttigieg’s responses follows Former US vice president Kamala Harris stating in her memoir, 107 Days, that he “would have been an ideal partner – if I were a straight white man.”

“We were already asking a lot of America: to accept a woman, a Black woman, a Black woman married to a Jewish man,” she allegedly writes in her memoir.

Buttigieg came out as gay in 2015. Soon after he met his now-husband Chasten on Hinge. He says they bonded over a plate of Scotch eggs in a South Bend, Indiana pub.

The pair married in June 2018, three years after they connected on the dating app Hinge. The former US secretary of transportation and his husband adopted twins Penelope and Joseph in 2021.
