Democratic congresswoman Sarah McBride has posted a funny TikTok video in which she is searching for her “missing” Republican colleagues.
The trans politician posted the video to her TikTok account, in which she humorously searches the US Capitol building for her Republican colleagues as the US government shutdown deadline loomed.
The video caption read: “I went searching for Republicans in the Capitol. Turns out they’re not in Washington to keep the government open or protect your health care.
“We’re barreling towards a shutdown. All my Democratic colleagues are here. I’m going to go search for my Republican colleagues,” McBride said in the clip.
She then walks through empty committee rooms, even peeking behind curtains.
McBride, who is the first transgender person elected to Congress, used the video to call out GOP inaction on funding talks.

Last month, McBride slammed Republicans for blocking votes on her amendments to the 2026 National Defence Authorisation Act.
McBride had hoped to use the legislation to repeal president Trump’s ban on transgender men and women serving openly in the US armed forces. However, the Republican majority blocked the amendments.
“They wore the uniform, they kept their promises to us. It’s time we keep our promises to them,” she said, before accusing Republicans of actively undermining the nation’s values by refusing to even debate the issue.
In July, McBride explained how trans rights have regressed in the US, and she has often accused her Republican colleagues of using transgender-related issues topics to distract from their failure to address more-pressing problems.
