Big Brother housemate Gani has candidly spoken about his bisexuality, and dropped a bombshell revelation about his current relationship status.

The 39-year-old pizza shop manager and major Dua Lipa fan spoke to 20-year-old makeup artist and Derry girl Jenny about his romantic life after moving to the UK from India.

“This is going to be very interesting and very shocking for you. 2022 was the turning point in my life,” he shared.

“I was so open-minded [sexually] even though I was from a religious background. I was always like, ‘why not try everything’. From 2022 to 2024, I was literally enjoying and exploring bisexuality,” he explained.

At the end of 2023 though, his father questioned him on why he wasn’t married yet, and pushed him into getting wed.

“Then my dad asked me [to get married] and I couldn’t say no. That is how I got married in January 2024 with my cousin,” he revealed.

A visibly shocked Jenny then asked Gani whether he was still married, to which Gani confirmed: “I am still married, yeah. I have a baby boy – 10 months old.”

It became evident that Gani wasn’t keen on the idea of getting hitched, and the prospect had instead been forced upon him.

“And I said to my mother, ‘It is not you, it is your husband. It is my dad, your husband – he forced me. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have married,'” he shared.

He explained that he would prefer to be a “free soul” and wouldn’t have married if he weren’t forced to, with Jenny picking up on his resentment.

“As long as you are happy and your wife is happy but talking to you now, I don’t think you want to be married?”

She then asked whether he could get a divorce, or whether it would be frowned upon considering his religious background.

“The thing is Jenny, I didn’t marry to get divorced actually. I love my wife, I love my son,” Gani said.

“From where I’m standing, I wanted to repair things and I wanted to be with my wife and son.

“This is me – either take it or leave it. I choose to live like this because this is my second life and I want to live in a f***ing iconic way.”

Gani first revealed his bisexuality during the Big Brother live launch on Sunday 28 September, but the housemate did not discuss his marriage at the time.

The housemate is one of a number of LGBTQ+ contestants on this year’s Big Brother, with zumba instructor Sam recently discussing their gender identity, Zelah gradually telling his housemates that he is trans, and Nancy explaining that she is pansexual.

Big Brother continues on ITV2 and ITVX, Sunday through to Friday, at 9pm BST.
