Big Brother contestant Zelah has been praised for his reaction after being ‘accidentally outed’ as transgender by fellow housemate Jenny.
Fans declared the trans personal trainer from South London their early “winner” after the show’s launch on Sunday (28 September), and has since remained a firm fan-favourite in the Big Brother house, which is currently hosting its third civilian series since the ‘original social experiment’ moved to ITV in 2023.
As well as 27-year-old Zumba instructor Sam and bisexual Dua Lipa fan Gani, Zelah is flying the flag for the LGBTQ+ community, and has been drip-feeding his fellow Housemates details about his life and coming-out process.
As of the start of Sunday’s episode (5 October), Zelah had only told some housemates about his gender identity; speaking to his assembled housemates, he asked them: “If I do go tonight, don’t forget about me.”
20-year-old Jenny replied: “We won’t. I’ll say: ‘Where’s the transgender!'”
Caroline, 56, immediately asked: “Did she just say that? Oh for God’s sake.”
Cameron B then asked: “Is he trans?”
“Yeah, that’s true,” Zelah responded.
“I genuinely would not do that to anyone." 💜

Later in the garden, Jenny apologised, with Zelah understanding that she had assumed everyone knew.
“Zee, I’m really sorry. I did not mean to say it,” Jenny said.
“Oh no, you’re ok,” he replied.
“I thought everyone knew,” she added.
Zelah continued: “I do not think it came from a bad place. I had a feeling you didn’t know that people didn’t know… and therefore that’s fine.”
“I genuinely would not do that to anyone,” Jenny said. “I’m really sorry if I offended you in any way.”
Zelah, who was saved from eviction, has since been praised online for his handling of the situation.
“Huge respect to Zelah for being so kind and generous about it because he really didn’t have to be even though Jenny’s intentions were definitely not malicious,” one user wrote.
“Zelah handed the situation so well, such massive respect to him,” another added.

Oh I agree with that it was hard to watch, but I'm glad Jenny at least took accountability and apologized to Zelah 😭
