Here’s when and where to watch 9-1-1 season 9 in the UK and US

9-1-1 is returning to our screens for season nine on Thursday (9 October) and we could not be more ready.

Ever since the dramatic events of season eight, which saw the death of beloved captain of Station 118, Robert Wade “Bobby” Nash Sr. (Peter Krause) and the collapse of an apartment building on Los Angeles, fans have been clamouring to know what happens next.

We’ve already had a slight tease from Oliver Stark, who plays Buck, that we can expect more of ‘Buddie’ in the upcoming season, as well as a further exploration of Buck’s bisexuality.

Both are things that fans have been particularly vocal about wanting to see developed in the series, with Stark himself adding that he’s open to exploring Buddie’s relationship if it’s “the right story to tell”.

Thankfully, we have also heard that there will be a Día de los Muertos-themed episode, that will involve Buddie, so we’re sure we’re going to some interesting developments there. Fans have also made it clear they want Buck to specifically say the word ‘bisexual’ at some point.

A trailer for the new series focuses on the premiere episode which features a plotline that is out of this world. Or maybe not, as it seems strikingly familiar to recent real-world events.

After saving the life of billionaire Tripp Hauser (Mark Consuelos) who is swallowed by a Whale while kayaking (yes, you read that right) Hen (Aisha Hinds) is invited to join Hauser’s space mission. Athena (Angela Bassett) joins Hen on the trip, which of course doesn’t go to plan as a geomagnetic storm strikes, raining meteors down to Earth.

Minus the Whale and the potentially cataclysmic meteor storm, the space flight looks very familiar to that of Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin space flight from earlier this year.

What time does 9-1-1 season nine episode one come out?

9-1-1 season nine is set to air on ABC on Thursday at 8 pm Eastern Time in the United States. The premiere of the new spinoff, 9-1-1 Nashville, will air immediately afterward. Both will then be available to stream on Hulu on Friday (10 October).

Given that Hulu is fully owned by Disney as of June 2025, the new episodes of 9-1-1 will be available on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland. Hulu will replace what UK Disney+ users currently known as ‘Star’, the more adult offering on Disney+.

Unfortunately, viewers in the UK and Ireland will have to wait a couple of weeks with season nine and 9-1-1 Nashville not being available here until Wednesday 22 October, as reported by Radio Times.
