Dancing With The Stars contestant and conservationist Robert Irwin has shared his very understandable reaction to being gifted flowers by Wicked actor Jonathan Bailey.

In a video posted on Irwin’s Instagram page, the 21-year-old son of conservationist Steve Irwin is seen in a dance rehearsal studio when Witney Carson, his professional Dancing With The Stars dance partner, presents him with a huge bouquet of flowers.

“These are beautiful! Who are these from? Oh my goodness, they’re gorgeous,” he says in the clip.

“Do you have a secret admirer that I don’t know about?” Carson asks.

A visibly gagged Irwin then yelps: “It’s from Jonathan Bailey!”

Week six of the current season of Dancing With The Stars, which aired on ABC on 21 October, was Wicked night. The ten remaining duos had to dance to a musical number from Jon M Chu’s movie adaptation, with Irwin and Carson doing a jazz routine to “Dancing Through Life”, Bailey’s leading performance in the film.

Jonathan Bailey stars as eligible bachelor Fiyero in Wicked, alongside Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande as Elphaba and Glinda respectively.

Robert Irwin received one of the highest marks during Wicked week, scoring 36 out of 40.

In Irwin’s video, he proceeds to read out the message on the flowers.

“You are the Shiz, Robert. You’ve done all the Fiyeros proud. Cheering you on from afar. Big love, JB,” he reads.

“What! This has made my day. Thank you so much Jonathan,” Irwin then says, as he clutches the bouquet for dear life.

Commenting on the Instagram post, the official Wicked Instagram account wrote: “The crossover we all needed.”

During ‘Wicked’ week on ‘Dancing With the Stars Australia’, Robert Irwin and his dance partner Witney Carson performed a jazz routine to ‘Dancing Through Life’ from the iconic musical, with Robert dressed as Prince Fiyero. After the performance, Irwin posted a video to social media of him receiving a surprise delivery of flowers from actor Jonathan Bailey, who plays Fiyero in the film adaptation of the musical, alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. In the clip Robert says: “Who are these from? Oh my goodness, they’re gorgeous.” His dance partner asks if he has a secret admirer, before Irwin reads the note attached to the floral tribute, which says: “You are the shiz, Robert. You’ve done all the Fiyeros proud. Cheering you on from afar. Big love, JB.” #Wicked #DancingWithTheStars #JonathanBailey #robertirwin #Flowers #lgbtqia

Wicked director Jon M. Chu also commented, leaving a simple love heart emoji.

“I too would react like this if Jonathan Bailey sent me flowers,” reads one viral response to the video.

Throughout his Dancing With The Stars tenure, Robert Irwin has made quite the impression of his LGBTQ+ fans. During week three, TikTok night, Irwin performed “Million Dollar Baby” by Tommy Richman, and proceeded to rip his shirt open and show off his washboard abs during the performance.

The young wildlife expert has previously described himself as a “proud” ally of the LGBTQ+ community, sharing a photograph of a rainbow to mark Coming Out Day back in 2020.

Earlier this month, a viral, AI-generated post accused Irwin of refusing to accept and wear an LGBTQ+ pin as he did not wish to engage in “forced symbolism”.

The post was swiftly debunked by AAP FactCheck, and proved, unsurprisingly, to be fake.

Dancing With The Stars continues on 28 October for Halloween night, where Irwin and Carson will be performing “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” by Hampton String Quartet, a cover of the iconic Eurythmics song.
