Celebrity Traitors winner Alan Carr has addressed rumours about him possibly hosting Strictly Come Dancing in the future.

Last month, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, the latter of whom also hosts The Traitors and The Celebrity Traitors, announced they were stepping down at the end of the current series. Since then, speculation has been rife as to who could replace them.

Speaking to Radio Times while promoting his sitcom Changing Ends, which returns to ITV1 on Sunday night (23 November), Carr said it was an “honour” to be considered for the role.

“Apparently my name is in the hat but I haven’t spoken to anyone at the BBC,” he added. “You saw how sweaty I was in the [Traitors] castle, imagine me live on a Saturday night coming down those stairs. People would slip in a pool of my sweat while doing the fandango.

“It’s lovely to be thought of but it’s probably a bit too nerve-racking.”

Speaking to The Mirror recently, Strictly contestant and actor Lewis Cope said: “Alan would be brilliant. He’s funny, people love him and he’s really current. Why not?”

Other names suggested to take over the reins include Rylan Clark, Emma Willis and Graham Norton. RuPaul Drag Race UK‘s La Voix, who is dancing in the current series but will miss Saturday night’s Blackpool special through injury, nominated herself.

Carr entertained millions of UK TV viewers while on The Celebrity Traitors. Selected as a traitor, he was able to remain mostly undetected and without attracting much suspicion.

In the finale earlier this month, he fooled the remaining faithfuls to win £87,500 ($115,000) for Neuroblastoma UK. Speaking to the BBC afterwards, he described winning was “a complete shock”.
