Strictly’s La Voix ‘devastated’ to miss Blackpool special after rehearsal injury

La Voix has confirmed that she will miss the Strictly Come Dancing Blackpool episode after suffering an injury.
The RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star has been competing with professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec. Last weekend, they performed a couple’s choice to the Barbra Streisand classic, “Don’t Rain On My Parade.”
But on Tuesday (18 November), it was announced that La Voix would miss Saturday night’s (22 November) show “due to injury”. A BBC statement said: “In line with the rules of Strictly Come Dancing, La Voix and Aljaž will receive a bye through to next week when it is hoped they will be able to dance again.”
In the same statement, La Voix said withdrawing from Blackpool week caused her “immense sadness”, adding: “l’ve been advised that I’m unable to perform and my heart truly breaks knowing I won’t be dancing in such an iconic venue.
“Aljaž and I have worked incredibly hard and we were so excited to share our routine with everyone. I am devastated not to be joining the rest of the cast on that famous dance floor but my focus now is on recovery.” She will, however, be cheering on the other dancers from the side lines.
Posting on her Instagram stories, she addressed her fans directly, revealing that she had injured her foot last week and “with the help of an incredible team, and a whole lot of sparkles and determination, was able to keep going and perform”.
She continued: “As the old saying goes, the show must go on and believe me, I pushed myself to make sure it did. Performing for all of you means the world to me but l have to listen to my body so I can come back stronger (and with both heels working).
“I’ll be back on that stage as soon as I’m able – louder, brighter and sassier than ever.”
Ahead of the latest series, La Voix told PinkNews that she was making history by being “the only person ever going on Strictly [who’s] going to be dressing down for the live shows”.
After hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly announced last month that they were stepping down after this year, La Voix nominated herself to take over the reins.
