Everyone is obsessed with Miss Norway’s salmon-inspired national costume, and for good reason.

The national costume segment sees each Miss Universe candidate wear their nation’s culture, and Miss Norway Leonora Lysglimt-Rødland stunned the audience – and sent the internet in a chokehold  – when she rocked the runway as a giant Norwegian salmon.

Her costume paid tribute to her country’s fishing traditions and leading export.

On social media, people were quick to praise the contestant for slaying the assignment.

“Miss Norway’s Rupaul’s drag runway challenge shantay you slay queen hunty down,” one person wrote, referencing a catchphrase RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Someone else wrote that they didn’t “need to see anything else”, saying the outfit was enough to crown her.

Another fan of the costume raved: “Miss Norway in Salmon costume at Miss Universe 2025. That’s it…”

Giang wore a a traditional Vietnamese outfit during the costume showcase. She shared that wearing the outfit fulfilled a dream she didn’t get to live throughout her school years.

“The dream may come late, but it arrives in the most beautiful way,” she said. She added that her look was a nod to Vietnamese youth and to the cultural memory of heading to class shared across generations.

Miss Universe 2025 is taking place in Thailand from 2 November to 21 November, featuring 123 contestants from across the world.

In a move towards inclusivity, the pageant has removed its upper age limit, which was previously set at 28, and opened its doors to married women, mothers and trans women, meaning anyone (over the age of 18) can now compete.
